This site collects as little as it can. Below is a plain-English summary.

Visiting the site: my host, Ghost.org, processes technical data such as your IP address, browser and the pages you request. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Visitor numbers are counted without cookies and without identifying you.

Newsletter and membership: if you subscribe, Ghost stores your email address, your name if you give it, your sign-up date and which newsletters you chose, and sends the letters to you. Each letter records whether it was delivered and opened and which links were clicked. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you confirm by clicking the link in the sign-up email. You can unsubscribe with one click from any letter. When you do, your data is deleted.

Comments: if you comment, your name and your comment are shown publicly under the post.

Cookies: only the ones needed to keep members signed in. No advertising or tracking cookies.

Embedded content: videos and podcast players load from YouTube and Instagram, which may collect data under their own policies.

Your rights: you can ask to see, correct, delete, restrict or export your data. You can also object to how it's used or withdraw your consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority. In Bavaria that's the BayLDA.
